Samantha Fish at Gypsy Sally’s

“It’s like watching Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.”

That’s what another stunned concertgoer said to me as we marveled at the musical force of nature that is Samantha Fish. But after hearing Fish’s vocals, the name that kept repeating in my head was that of powerhouse rhythm and blues singer Amy Winehouse. With Fish though, you also get some of the hottest, and tastiest, lead guitar this side of Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Fish ended her fall 2017 tour on Thursday night at Gypsy Sally’s in a fiery, passionate performance that had the sold-out crowd screaming for more. Although the setlist drew heavily from the two albums she released in 2017 (Chills and Fever in March and Belle of the West in November), she did delve into older unreleased songs, and a few covers. Fish’s relentless tour schedule is gaining her a wide following, and is destined for larger venues.
