Girlfriend In A Coma Plays Final Shows

After more than 10 years, Maryland’s favorite The Smiths/Morrissey tribute band, Girlfriend in a Coma, played their final shows this past weekend at State Theatre in the City of Falls Church and The Ottobar in Baltimore. Selling out their final performance at The Ottobar, the band treated their fans to a two-hour set full of all those famous Smiths and Morrissey songs that everyone loves to sing along to, including openers N.E.W. Athens, a Rockville-based R.E.M. tribute band. Parting ways after so many memorable performances is bittersweet; however, two members of GFIAC also perform with The Reagan Years and GFIAC’s frontman, Christopher Quinn, will continue to bring the music of The Smiths to fans in his newly formed tribute band, Caligula Blushed. If you enjoy The Smiths and you missed out on Girlfriend in a Coma, be sure to check the new tribute band out. Photos and write-up: Shantel Mitchell Breen
