Wunder Garten (1101 First St. NE), in partnership with NoMa Business Improvement District, is excited to announce the return of Winterfest, a weeks-long holiday market and tree lot. Beginning Friday, November 30, and continuing through Sunday, December 16, the beer garden will light up like a Christmas tree and transform into a winter wonderland perfect for shopping for gifts and decorations while reveling in warm cocktails, food from local restaurants, and live music.
Getting in the holiday spirit, Wunder Garten will roll out a new menu of warming libations including winter beers from local breweries, spiked hot cider, Irish coffee, and peppermint schnapps hot chocolate. Food will be provided by Caliburger and DC’s beloved Timber Pizza on select nights.
Always a dog-friendly establishment, Wunder Garten will partner with the Humane Rescue Alliance to offer photos with Santa for furry friends on Sunday, December 16.
Roaring fires, bright string lights and other holiday decorations will surround the Makers Market, a gathering of local artisans selling artwork, apparel, greeting cards, beauty products, libations, and more including wares from vendors such as True Syrups & Garnishes, Zeke’s Coffee, Metal & Stone Creations, Urban Forest Perfume Co. and Who Dog Knits. The Makers Market will be open Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm, Saturday 12 pm to 8 pm and Sunday 12 pm to 6 pm.
For those looking to bring home a tree, the lot at Winterfest will offer a variety of fresh species to choose from, sourced regionally and responsibly, ranging in size from four to ten feet tall, with a portion of the proceeds going to a local DC charity. Holiday helpers will bundle and tie trees for easy transport.
As with last year’s Winterfest, local award-winning artist Hernan Gigena will install an interactive (and Instagrammable) art piece – this one consisting of more than 300 spheres suspended in air, a symbol of peace for the holiday season.
Admission to Winterfest is free. Wunder Garten is open Monday through Thursday, 4 pm to 10 pm; Friday, 4 pm to 1 am; Saturday, 12 pm to 1 am; and Sunday from 12 pm to 10 pm. For more information, please visit www.wundergarten.com or
About Wunder Garten
Inspired by the Bavarian beer gardens made famous in Germany, Wunder Garten opened in 2015 in an unused lot in NoMa, with the goal of providing residents of the neighborhood with a fun place to gather with friends and family for ice cold beers and sunshine. Now, Wunder Garten is one of DC’s largest beer gardens with over 400 seats, multiple bars, lush greenery, cabanas, fire pits and heaters, and a climate controlled beer pavilion.
