What: LATE SHOW Yelle, EARLY SHOW All Time Low, Mayday Parade, The Maine
When: Monday, Oct 13
Hot Topic doesn't just capitalize off of peppy-pop masquerading as dangerous, kohl-rimmed, bondaged goth - it perpetuates it! Be there to reach that All Time Low with a few of the neighborhood teens who turn out to rock out at the Hot Topic Presents tour. It's a school night, so doors open at 4:30 p.m. (Tickets are $15). For those of us without curfews, stick around for the real (late) show at 10 p.m., when eccentric French club chanteuse Yelle gets the crowd poppin' 'n' boppin' along with her infectious, synthesized beats. What: Hip Hop Live Tour featuring Talib Kweli, David Banner, B.O.B., Rhythm Roots Allstars
When: Monday, Oct 20
Talib Kweli is one of the most critically successful rappers, even prompting Jay-Z in 2003’s “The Black Album” to rhyme, “If skills sold, truth be told, I’d probably be, lyrically, Talib Kweli.” While Kweli hasn’t been one of the highest-grossing rappers, his skills are undeniable ever since his days with the group Black Star, alongside Mos Def and DJ Hi-Tek. Kweli’s friendship with comedian Dave Chappelle earned him a spot on Chappelle’s Show, performing alongside Mos Def, and making both stars. Kweli’s biggest single is the Kanye West produced “Get By”—a humming chorus, to go alongside deep drums, bass and Kweli’s impeccable rhymes. Banner — taking the name of The Incredible Hulk’s alter ego—is a Mississippi rapper with an unmistakable deep voice on his rhymes and has had several hits come out of his latest album, including “Get Like Me” and “Speaker.” — Alfredo Flores

What: An Evening With The Black Crowes
When: Friday, Oct 24
When dirty hippie Chris Robinson married shiny starlet Kate Hudson, tabloids jumped on the story, and for a brief moment, we were reminded of that crazy longhaired dude with the southern rock band out of Atlanta that was kind of a big deal in the '90s. Now Chris 'n' Kate are no more, and Robinson and his Crowes are offering D.C. concert goers the chance to get reacquainted during two nights of "An Evening With." Expect "MTV Unplugged"-style barefeet-on-persian-rugs and acoustic-backed confessions.  Tickets are $45, doors at 8 p.m. — Hilary Crowe

What: Deerhoof, Experimental Dental School, Flying
When: Sunday, Oct 26
Deerhoof has been churning out their razor sharp indie-rock and whimsical mess of Seuss-ian noise-pop to critical acclaim since 2005’s LP “Runners Four.” Now the quirky quartet is on tour in support of their new album, “Offend Maggie,” to be released Oct. 7.  If their track record’s any indication of what’s to come, the album and the show should impress the pants off Maggie. 7 p.m. $15. — Hilary Crowe

What: The Hotel Cafe Tour featuring Meiko, Jenny Owen Youngs, Thao Nguyen, Samantha Crain
When: Tuesday, Oct 28
For those of you who can't get enough of those tragically lyrical, ethereal indie rock chanteuses, look no further than the Hotel Cafe Tour. The Hotel Cafe, an L.A. club known for showcasing the best in singer/songwriters, was voted one of America's Top 40 music venues by Paste Magazine. Now, one in 40 comes to America's #1 venue (according to painfully posh Esquire Magazine) here in D.C. to show District music lovers what it's got to give. West coast-East coast musical throwdown? Yes please. Tickets are $20, doors at 7 p.m. — Hilary Crowe

What: Slightly Stoopid
When: Wednesday, Oct 29
Reggae rock-rappers Slightly Stoopid hail from Ocean Beach, Ca. Nearly a decade ago, Bradley Nowell of Sublime signed the band, then still in high school, to his Skunk Records label and the boys never looked back. Influenced by Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin and Dr. Dre, it's no surprise that the band followed up last year's release, "Chronchitis," with this year's "Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid." Reggae outfit Outlaw Nation, from Louisiana, opens. Tickets are $25, doors at 7 p.m. — Hilary Crowe

What: The Pietasters, The Toasters, Deals Gone Bad
When: Friday, Oct 31
Local ska/soul octet the Pietasters take their cues from the Specials and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and the New York-based Toasters are perhaps the longest running ska band in the U.S. (nearly a quarter century in the running). What's scarier than a bunch of burnouts playing ska? The costume contest that follows where the winner takes all, literally: 9:30 is giving the grand prize winner tickets to every show at the club for the remainder of 2008. So there's still hope for the desperados out there to score tix for that sold out Vampire Weekend show in December. Tickets are $15, doors at 8 p.m. — Hilary Crowe
